Dental Check-ups and Cleanings

Regular dental check-ups and cleanings help monitor the child’s oral health, identify early signs of dental issues, and prevent tooth decay and gum disease. Proper instruction for tooth brushing and ?ossing should be considered for improved oral hygiene.

Dental Fillings

When children have cavities or tooth decay, dentists use dental fillings to restore and stop from further damage. Even stainless-steel crowns are used after the restoration to strengthen the affected teeth.

Pulpectomy

When the tooth is heavily decayed with the cavity touching the nerve, pulpectomy (root canal treatment) is advised following which stainless steel / zirconia crown is placed to restore the functionality and the aesthetics of the teeth. Milk tooth acts as a good space maintainer for permanent tooth hence milk tooth should be saved by pulpectomy.

Dental Sealants

Dental sealants are thin, protective coatings applied to the chewing surfaces which is the pits and fissures of molars to prevent the development of cavities. It is usually done in young milk teeth and permanent teeth when blackish discoloration is observed or as a preventive therapy.

Tooth Extractions

In cases of severely decayed or damaged teeth that cannot be saved, dentists may perform tooth extractions. .

Fluoride Treatments

Topical fluoride application helps strengthen tooth enamel, making it more resistant to decay. It prevents the teeth from undergoing further demineralisation thereby arresting the progression of caries. It is indicated when the white lesion on the tooth surface is observed.

Space Maintainers

: Children may need space maintainers if they lose a tooth early or have a baby (primary) tooth extracted due to dental decay. A space maintainer is an appliance keep the space open to allow the permanent tooth to erupt and come into place without any malalignment in permanent Dentition.

Orthodontic Evaluations

Dentists assess the alignment and growth of a child’s teeth and jaws to determine if orthodontic treatment is needed. Identifying early signs of orthodontic needs and providing timely intervention for the best long-term results..
